JUDITH APPELBAUM, managing director of Sensible Solutions, Inc., and author of the classic How to Get Happily Published, has been helping publishers and writers succeed for almost 25 years. Winner of the Publishers Marketing Association's Lifetime Achievement Award, she has been a columnist and reviewer for The New York Times Book Review and the managing director of Publishers Weekly.

Her groundbreaking book, How to Get Happily Published, has sold well over 500,000 copies and she says she'll never stop trying to make the book business work better for authors, publishers and readers.

Judith Appelbaum chairs the Book Industry Study Group Publications Committee and the Rights Committee of its Book And Serial Industry Communications division. A member of the faculty of the Publishing Institute at the University of Denver, she serves as the editor at large of the PMA Newsletter and as a board member of BISG and the Small Press Center.

She speaks often at writers' and publishers' gatherings, has appeared on dozens of talk shows, and is the author of articles published not only in The New York Times and Publishers Weekly but also in Harper's, The Writer, Small Press, Mother Earth News, the Authors Guild Bulletin, the PMA Newsletter, Media Studies Journal and Poets & Writers magazine.
